Ice dispenser stopped working

I usually wait some time to write a review on things and I™€™m glad I did here because I WAS completely thrilled with this purchase until the ice dispenser stopped working shortly before the warranty was up. Had it repaired through the warranty and not 6 months after that, it stopped working again. Neither the Whirlpool warranty or the repair company were able to help me. The ice dispenser was one of the reasons I purchased this fridge so it™€™s definitely disappointing.

Only had it a week and calling the Appliance store because the icemaker doesn't work right. I can't even get the door open enough to get the icebox out. It would be nice if the shelves had better accessibility. So I guess it's a wait and see if the rest of it is okay

I bought this model approx. 2 years go. My ice maker will stop working all together for a couple days and then it will start making ice again. Randomly does this. Called for a serviceman to come out to look at it. Will be sometime next week. This is frustraiting!!!

Faulty product and horrible customer service

I have the model WRF757SDHZ04 refrigerator. I actually had two since the first one had to be replaced in two months since it needed multiple repairs. I just "junked" my second one that is one month short of three years old. I wanted to get it fixed, however, customer service at Whirlpool is nonexistent. First you spend hours trying to get to a live person after all the prompts. Then you finally get them to put in a work order saying major components are warranted for five years only to have the company they selected to fix it come to your home and not even look at the appliance saying it was out of warrenty. Meanwhile my refrigerator is beeping on and off and the control panel dimming. It took me a week to schedule another repair and once again the repair company cancelled my appointment saying when Whirlpool called it in that it was out of warranty (major components are warrantied for five years). Also, even though my refrigerator was not cooling any longer, Whirlpool could not get me an appointment for a week and half. So I have no refrigeration in my home. I had to end up buying a new refrigerator when my Whirlpool was just short of three years old! I ended up getting an automated call from Whirlpool telling me they had to cancel my repair and that I could log on to reshedule or press 1 to speak to a customeer service rep. I did press 1 and spoke to a very nice woman who checked on my case and saw it was mishandled. She said their team was going to speak to all involved. Well, that is nice for them to get their customer service team knowledgeable on handling problems but it did nothing for me since I'm out over two thousand dollars! I asked for some sort of compensation since it was admitted by Whirlpool that they dropped the ball on this case, but they said they could not do anything for me. So, I would not recommend Whirlpool based not only on their faulty product, but they have the worst customer service I have ever dealt with.

Filter Removal

NEW REFRIGERATOR: USED 5 MONTHS. Filter is very difficult to remove. The online WHIRLPOOL instructions MANUAL FOR THIS MODEL says push the tab to release the housing holding the filter but, really, one must PULL the tab to release. After that the filter cannot be removed, turned. pulled down. It is just stuck so I have to have a service call to be able to change the filter. I also looked at several utube videos but they were different models.

In 6 years the LED lights have gone our 4 times and the compressor once, the lights just went out again yesterday, no repairman can answer why this keeps happening, I'm done with this refrigerator. As soon as I can afford it will be replaced.

Nice Refrigerator

We bought this fridge because we needed to replace the one we had. It stopped working properly. This is the style, color, and size, that we wanted. It's great!!! A couple of small things small issue...the ice dispenser will crush ice when set on cube mode; the icemaker jams up the dispenser in the door and we have to clear it when we get a lot of ice; a drawer light went out after 4 years. I'm not complaining, but these are a few issues. We're not going to get rid of the fridge, but info for others to be aware of.

Love the design but having problems with ice maker

I had this refrigerator in my previous house and loved it. So, when I moved into my new house, I brought the same refrigerator. In all my years with a built-in ice maker, I've never had a problem. This refrigerator was purchased and installed on August, 2025. Starting about 4 months later, the ice maker stopped working. I use the ice maker everyday. When I finally got the ice maker off the refrigerator with the help of my son-in-law, it was blocked with solid ice. I cleared that out and reinserted the ice maker back into the refrigerator. This has happened 2 more times since then. It is very difficult to even get the ice maker off the refrigerator. The side button doesn't do anything. Now, it doesn't appear to be working. I am getting frustrated because as I mentioned before, I love my iced tea. Not as good without ice.

We originally bought this same refrigerator in 2021 and it decided to stop working last year 2025 and we tried to have fixed multiple times under the warranty we purchased. Every attempt to fix it was ultimately unsuccessful so after about 2 months without a working refrigerator and several conversations, we were finally able to finally convince the extended warranty company to replace it with a brand new one. We do love the appliance and hope this one will outlast the other.

Beware if buying this Whirlpool Frig. My $2500 frig, 4 y/o has had repeated ice maker problems. After 5 service calls, $1k in parts, and @Whirlpool won't even entertain helping or me with discounting the parts. I have been loyal to Whirlpool but never again. They do NOT stand behind their products, quality is a thing of the past. Go with GE NOT Whirlpool.

I ordered this refrigerator (model #WRX986SIHZ) at the end of 2025 and have not received it as of today, Feb 26, 2026. In fact, Whirlpool doesn™€™t even know when they will ship it. I feel like I™€™m in a black hole. When I ordered the unit, I was not told that it was out of stock. It wasn™€™t until after I ordered it that Whirlpool let me know they would not be able to deliver it until Feb 2, so I made arrangements so we could wait until Feb 2 to get the refrigerator, then they told me Feb 16, then Feb 17, and now they can™€™t even give me a date!

Last whirlpool appliance I will buy. Pure junk! Waiting until I have saved up enough money to buy a new frig and send this junk to the junk yard. Less than 2 years old, had service within the first year. If you want ice, we hope it is less than 2 8oz cups at a time because you will be lucky to get that much every other day. Customer care don't bother to contact us as our minds are made up. We have brought whirlpool appliances since 1970 - never again - two bad apples in a row is two too many.

Nice unit with an inconsistent ice maker

Seems to work very well with the exception of the ice maker. It is inconsistent and the hopper door sometimes fails to close. This causes an ice jam in the chute that must be manually dislodged. Seems to happen 2-3 times per week. You'd think at this price point, Whirlpool would have such a simple thing figured out. Middle drawer is very handy and we use it more than we thought we would.

I bought this refrigerator brand new and the technicians that delivered it dropped one screw to one door and they insisted that it fell on my kitchen table. Well, I took them at their word thinking I would find it and put the foot on it so I signed for the refrigerator. Bad mistake. I never found the screw and called whirlpool who said that they would send me one. Two months later I still never received a screw from whirlpool and I have only one door on my refrigerator. I called them back and was given a tracking number with fedx but it only showed that a label was made but no product shipped. I can get no one at whirlpool to help me. Sad.

COMPRESSOR DIED 3.5 years after owning this refrigerator. I get that fixed for $800 and the Ice Maker is now freezing at the turn - Style near the back of the freezer. Horrible loud noise and ice will NOT fall out. We are truly disappointed in you Whirlpool. We are professional chefs , and Keep our refrigerator immaculately clean of dust etc.

We bought the refrigerator from Costco. We have been having a lot of issues with it. Initially we were having trouble with the door getting stuck and not closing. Later, the filter compartment started leaking within a year. Since last year, the light has gone out too. A big disappointment. Won™€™t recommend it to anyone.

I'm done with whirlpool, this is my 2nd refrigerator in the last 8 years. First one made it to just outside the 5 year extended warranty I bought with a refrigerant leak which was going to cost more to fix than replace. So I replace it with this one and after 2.5 years it has the same symptoms, doesn't get cold enough. It's not iced up, all the fans work and according to on board diagnostics all the sensors say they are fine.

Ice, Ice Baby - Fail Fail Fail

I bought this refrigerator in May of 2023. I was surprised at amount of space this fridge has, not in the best way. It seems that we do not have as much room as we thought it would. But, that is on us. Other than that, we have been happy with it. We did have one of the decorative strips on the door shelf peel away but was about to put it back. The chilled water has been a blessing and the ice maker has been working well however... The reason for the 3 stars is that is the past 3 months, the Ice Bucket Auger Drive Motor has had issues. We noticed that ice was in the bucket but it would not dispense. I emptied the bucket and checked to see if the auger turned freely and it does. You can also tell that it turns (with not ice in the bucket) without any problems. However, when the bucket has ice, I get about two cubes from the dispenser and that is it. I can hear the motor turning but no ice is being dispensed. I checked to to see if the Ice Bucket Auger Drive Motor was turning with the bucket remove and it does however, if there is any resistance, the auger drive doesn't turn. I believe the motor is the issue. I have yet to call a repair person because I don't want to spend the money on it. It is sad that we only had this fridge for less than two years and this part has failed. Should I give less than 3 stars? I am not really sure.

This Whirlpool, American made supposedly, is a major disappointment. I have had to have the interior light replaced 3 times and it's not working AGAIN! I also had the Ice Maker serviced and it's not working already. I didn't buy the South Korean models because I'm an American. If this is what our products are like, I'm going LG or Samsung. The saddest part? I'm sure Whirlpool won't care.

Water Reservoir Leaks

The water reservoir head which attaches to the filter is leaking 1 drop every 5 seconds. This fills up a bowl of water every day that needs to be dumped. I called the customer support line today and explained that I need a replacement part, W11346622.They responded by saying I am out of luck because that part only has a manufacturer warranty of 12 months. The fact that something so integral to the system fails and the company doesn't stand behind it is shocking.

I bought this refrigerator Nov 2022. I love the no finger prints stainless steel, the shelf and bin spaces are perfect. We enjoy we choice of crushed ice or ice cubes. There is only one issue , the light in the refrigerator to replace needs a service call. That is something I did not realize. I am used to replacing a light myself. For the most part, great refrigerator!

Ice maker nightmare

I™€™ve had this refrigerator for 1 year and had to have the ice maker repaired/replaced twice and the light in the freezer shorted out, needing repair also. Whirlpool would not replace this LEMON. Their solution was to try to sell me additional warranties on a product they would not stand by and acknowledge as defected. The thing looks great in my kitchen, but is very cheaply built. The exterior metal is very thin and dents easily. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

Disappointed, poor quality

I bought this refrigerator 3 years ago, The seals around the two (2) french doors are already coming apart. Food in the refrigerator freeze. To replace the seals it will cost me approximately $750.00. I never had problems with seals with the refrigerators I have owned in the past. I bought the brand Whirlpool thinking it was better quality, I am very disappointed.

Great fridge with lots of great features

We had this refrigerator for a year. All is well. Sometimes, the ice maker makes crushed ice when the setting is on whole ice. Not sure why. Did not call for service since it does happen all the time.

The overall design and quality of this unit, which we have had now for a little over a year, is horrific. The fit and finish of the cabinet is horrible. The crisper drawers cannot be removed for cleaning without taking out the shelves. The icemaker is loud like a machine gun. The freezer drawers do not operate smoothly. It is an embarrassment to anything that is so-called made in America.

Well laid out refrigerator

We had this unit purchased for us as part of a new house construction and have not had any problems with the unit in the three years we've been in the house. It sometimes makes some odd sounds, presumably related to ice making, and a small amount of ice routinely develops at the top, front part of the freezer compartment (and freezes the light switch), but otherwise the unit performs well.

Capacity is amazing

In addition to its very high capacity, we love the fact that you can pretty much see everything in the refrigeration area without moving things out of the way. It's pretty easy to move shelves around to fit your needs. The freezer section holds at least double what our old refrigerator could hold, and the two baskets at the top of the freezer make it easy to put smaller things for easy reach. It manages all of this while taking up the same floor space as the old fridge but has about double of the inside space. So far we love it!

I enjoy the crushed ice option and mostly use the pull out fridge drawer. As there is only one adjustable shelf. Seal on the door is splitting after less than a year of use

Please redesign the drawer slides.

Overall ok with the refrigerator. Very disappointed with the drawer slide track/wheel system. The wheels easily come off /out-of the tracks and the drawer falls down if not slowly pulled perfectly straight out. Really frustrating.

We bought this fridge in September 2021 and we loved the size, layout, middle drawer. It was great, until June 2025 when the ice maker stopped working and the fridge door sealing is coming apart. I™€™ve tried finding sealing replacement and can™€™t find anything that fits this model, yet. 4 years is not old enough for a fridge to be falling apart like this.

I've had this refrigerator for 1 year now. Only problem I've had is about once every 2-3 months, an ice cube will fail to fully fall into the ice maker tray and will stop the ice maker from making ice. When this happens, you have to pop out the ice bin and clear the offending ice cube. It's rather hard to depress the ice bin release. My wife doesn't have the strength to get it to release. We are both in our 70's, so neither of are as robust as we once were.
